The Author's Bio:

Creator of the Octologue, an 8-line syllabic form of poetry, award winning poet/author Patricia Gomes has been published in countless literary journals and anthologies, both in print and electronically. She is the author of four chapbooks and performs her work extensively throughout the New England area in addition to running poetry workshops and hosting poetry venues in and around the greater New Bedford area.

The former editor of Adagio Verse Quarterly, she earned a 2007 Pushcart nomination for her poem, One Man’s Claret.  Ms. Gomes won the Sandstar Poetry Award in 2008 for her poem, The Soloist.   In 2010, Ms. Gomes won first place in the Dave L. Osgood Poetry Competition, and Scratch Magazine’s Poetry Contest, as well as first place in Massachusetts Main Street Café’s “Scariest” Poem contest (2010 & 2011).  In addition to the United States, Ms. Gomes’ work has been published in the UK, Australia, Canada, and India.

Ms. Gomes artwork was chosen for the cover of the 2010 edition of Fourth of July Poetryworks, sponsored by The Bridgewater Arts and Music Festival.  Her art has also been featured in Pants on Fire, an electronic political magazine, as well as the metaphysical journal, The Fifth Element.

Currently, she is the on-line poetry moderator of iVillage’s (ivillage.com) Poets Workshop, a division of NBC.  She is a co-founder of the Writers’ Block workshop in New Bedford, MA, and an active member of the Bartley Scrivener Poetry Group in Dartmouth, MA, the Massachusetts State Poetry Society, the Cape Cod Literary Press, and New England Horror Writers.  Ms. Gomes is also an active member of ArtWorks, and is the current president of Gallery X in New Bedford.
